Wild Country Walkabouts runs workshops and bespoke bushcraft courses for groups and individuals . These can be at venues with a fixed basecamp or on the move, through the countryside. Courses may be booked for a half day or full day.

We also run bushcraft themed workshops for conferences and as part of Continuing Professional Development for teachers, youth workers and outdoor instructors. Please see Schools & Colleges page.

Bushcraft Activities

To me, Bushcraft is about learning to live comfortably in wild places and to see wild places through new eyes. The following activities may be combined to create a course depending on the experience of participants, your interests, the seasons and environmental conditions. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

 

Setting up a base camp, knife selection and knife law, whittling, cutting & splitting tools; knives, saws, axes, froes. Lighting a fire without matches, maintaining a fire and matching it to your needs, fire site reparation, making wild water safe to drink, wild cooking, alternatives to an open fire, camp gadgets, tarps for shelters, natural shelters, problem solving, sticks and staffs, field craft; getting close to wildlife, finding tracks, trails and signs. Making and using cordage, navigation with maps, navigation without maps. Natural resources, bushcraft kit, moving safely through wild country.
