Wild Country Walkabouts

Wild Country Walkabouts was established by Andrew Middleton, an experienced and successful Outdoor Education teacher to provide opportunities for adults and children to engage with wild places. Having worked as a teacher and head teacher in mainstream and special education, Andrew wanted to spend more time outdoors, sharing his passion for wild places with others.

Andrew is an Accredited Practitioner of the Institute for Outdoor Learning and an approved Bushcraft Practitioner who runs all activities in line with the Institute's policies. He holds National Governing Body Awards in Mountain Walking, the NCFE Level 3 Advanced Bushcraft Award, a Level 2 Outdoor First Aid qualification and a Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering. Andrew holds the NPQH and has Qualified Teacher Status.

Andrew has led groups safely in Britain, Europe and Asia, being self-reliant and comfortable outdoors, he also enjoys exploring wild places for extended periods on his own. Andrew has run Bushcraft workshops for the Institute for Outdoor Learning, at regional and national conferences.

Quote: 'Here he would show men how to live without cutting down all the trees, spoiling all the streams and killing every living thing. He would learn how to get the fullest pleasure out of the woods himself and then teach others to do the same.'
